Death Valley

Ivy crept up the base of the bridge. The pole tilting inwards, a pale frown hung onto my mouth, a soft whisper, turned into a growing temptation, transformed into a daring repent. Twelve loosely hanging wooden planks lay suspended above the abyss, which every so slowly seemed to creep deeper and deeper establishing a sudden fear that grew in my resistant constraints. I oozed with regret bu I could not withdraw, my arrogance had weaved through my judgement, and I am left to face the unyielding consequences that lay before me. My face drawn, as my dry, exposed bones outlined my silhouette, a white tint had been thrown onto me overlapping the life that clung onto the fear.

I froze.

A thick mist had shrugged the bold arms of my vision. A seeping trepidation thumped at my heart. Over. And over. Again. A wet shroud clamped onto my flaking skin. I counted the steps that I must pursue force a gush of relief into my spirit. But my soul had departed in an early arrival. Gulping, I took a step. A shuddered yanked my spine up straight, creaking vibrated in unison with my slippery ankles. Clenching onto the tearing rope with an iron grip, I dashed. A strum echoed through the mountain like a knife stabbing my ears. My punctured hope deflating ever so quickly. I hastened my pace and darted once more. Another strum repeated into a rhythm into a music that with every note collapsed me with an immense pressure. The rope now on the verge of snapping of the leaning pole.

I made one final attempt. Hurling myself into the draught of cold air that surrounded me. I ran into the final plank. A silence clammed onto me, so deep, I could hear my blood beating with fear. Jolting through the final plank. My grasp fell and the rope snapped. Hanging with a grave desperation I was now suspended in the valley. My death hunting me at a rapid speed a glee enveloped its face as it turned the final corner. My fate was imminent. Sweat. My last sight. Sweat. I lost hold and endlessly flailed into the abyss.
