Oblivion

A vermillion glow hung onto the grey structure, and brewing above it infuriated clouds lashed out orange streaks of lightning which hurled into the tower’s crumbling pillars. Tearing open the ground gnarled finger of lava embedded into the earth scarped across the land carving large snakes into the rocks. Clouds of ash raised into the air suffocating the atmosphere as a golden shimmer coated the building penetrating the shadows which glared through the darkness that lurked beneath its many concrete arches. Reaching out to the sky for mercy the bronze statue knew that his prayers were futile, as the destruction coiled onto him wrapping him in a rusty coat as the lava reflected through his veins sending pulses of fear through him. Minute by minute his hope slipping away from him in unison with cliff he stood on slowly withering away as he eventually balanced on the tip with his useless begging. And as his final moments passed the lava burst pouncing onto him as black bubbles sizzled onto him corroding him.

Torches gathered for one final stand their light tied together, as the east which lurked between the battered pillars growled, its golden eyes narrowing onto the light. Weaving through the pillars many of the creatures stood together as one by one they vanished into the deep unknown of the opposing towers. The surface was now like a giant puzzle shattered into segments some flipped over as the lava eventually engulfed them into the mantle ripping them apart.

Fumes of smoke formed a dome in the sky trapping the devastation beneath it slowly compressing, strangling everything near it, living or not living – nothing was to survive. Sinking into the surface the building boldly stood aloof in the dark mist which leaped across its towers. Drowning into the magma which sucked it into its stomach. Evil swarmed through out the once beaucholic scene endlessly feeding until the construction toppled over into a pile of death and desolation.
